Church News Sunday 26th November

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet at 10.50am. As always there is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet at 10am on Wednesday 26th November in the hall. All are welcome to come and join us.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM Do contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), if you feel we could help you. Please allow time for arrangements to be made if you need to be taken to appointments.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY Do come along to this group which meets weekly on a Wednesday at 1.30pm in the Church Hall. We study the Bible to try to discern the meaning of it in our lives today. In the next weeks we hope to use the Christian Aid material about Advent. Hopefully this will give a refreshing way to look at the Christmas story.

CONGREGATIONAL BOARD AND KIRK SESSION The next meeting of the Congregational Board takes place in the church hall on Thursday 27th November 2014 at 7pm. Copies of minutes and agendas are now available to uplift and those who receive them by email should now have them. The Kirk Session will meet immediately after the Congregational Board Meeting.

COMMUNICANT Next Sunday 30th November, Miss Victoria Macrae, having completed Communicant Classes, will be admitted to the Lord’s Table and become a Communicant Member of this congregation. Could the Kirk Session please meet at 10.45am in the small hall prior to worship that morning.

TEA / COFFEE & CAKES AFTER SERVICE ON 7TH DECEMBER The Sunday Club and FYF would like to invite you to come round to the hall after the morning service on Sunday 7th December, where they will be serving tea, coffee and cakes, in order to raise money for the sponsorship of a teenage girl in South America they have been supporting for the last several years.

COMMUNITY CHOIR The Community Choir meets again on Wednesday 26th November at 7.30pm in the church hall.

SOUP LUNCH The next soup lunch takes place in the church hall at 12noon on Friday 5th December 2014. If you haven’t managed along before, why not join us? We start with a short time of devotions, followed by some home-made soup, tea and biscuits and the chance to chat together. We are to be entertained by the Ben Wyvis Primary School Choir that day so a good response would be appreciated and we look forward to seeing you there.

GUILD The next meeting of the Guild is our Christmas Meal at the Priory Hotel. We hope to leave Conon/ Maryburgh about 12noon to be at the hotel by 12.30pm. The rate is £9.95 for two courses. Please indicate on the sheet at the back of the Church if you want to attend and if you require/can provide transport. Pay on the day.

Guild Dates for the Diary: This afternoon at Kilmuir Easter Church the RossTain Presbyterial Council are having a Songs of Praise entitled the “Guild Remembers” at 3pm.

Tomorrow evening 24th November, the Guilds of Ross Presbyterial Council will gather at Urray and Kilchrist Church in Muir of Ord at 7pm. The speakers at this meeting will be David and Ruth Shepherd with Donald MacDonald from the Vine Trust. Do come along to hear about this worthy charity. Again please indicate on the sheet at the back of the church if you’d like to attend and if transport is required.

On Thursday 4th December, a visit to Cameron House is planned leaving here at 1pm for 2pm at the Home. Please make sure you put your name down for that.

Thanks to all who made the last meeting such a success. The total of £204.50p was raised for the Guild Funds.

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT Carols, torchlight procession, mince pies and general jollity. Ferintosh Parish Church, along with members of the Scouting movement, Conon Bridge Community Council, Amenities Association, Ben Wyvis School (we hope) and others, will be participating in the Conon Christmas lights illumination event this year. After the Christmas tree lights are switched on at the war memorial at 6.00 pm on Saturday 6th December, those attending will come down to the Church Hall for mince pies and the like.  Volunteers are sought to attend the Church Hall at 5.00 pm on Saturday 6th December to put out tables, boil up the water and help serve teas etc.  If you can help please either contact Roderick Urquhart on 863845, by email at or turn up on the evening.
