Church News Sunday 26th April

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. As always there is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet again on Wednesday 29th April at 10am in the small hall.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM Remember the Team is there to help. Contact can be made either via your elder or the coordinator Janette Steele (01349 861591) who will be pleased to assist if they possibly can. Do remember to allow time for arrangements to be made.

LADIES BIBLE The next meeting will be held in the Church Hall on Wednesday 29th April. It is planned to return to “Evangelism – A Way of Life ” looking at The Good News (Acts 10:23 – 48). Please think and pray about coming along. We’d love more to join us in our open discussions or just to listen.

During Lent, the ladies were supporting a project called “IAMGIRL” under the umbrella organisation Fields of Life Charity. This helps girls to remain in education for much longer than previously and is mainly in East Africa. The grand sum of £65 was recently sent to this cause. Well done everyone who donated.

CHOIR PRACTICE The next rehearsal for the Choir will be on Sunday 10th May at 10.15am.

STEWARDSHIP There will be a Stewardship meeting for all members of the Congregational Board on Thursday 30th April at 7.00pm. Fiona Penny from National Stewardship will be coming to talk to us on the topic of finance, so we’re looking for a good attendance at this meeting, especially so given that our recent accounts showed another year in deficit.

CHRISTIAN AID Currently available at the rear of the Church, Christian Aid magazine’s to aid awareness of the work of this major charity, also quiz sheets for the song title teaser.

10th to 16th May is the Church’s major fund raising week for Christian Aid, & for local news on the web log on to christianaid.org.uk/inyourarea.

I will be in the hall following Church services over the next three weeks, so please come & chat to me, and if you are able to help with collecting the ‘team’ would be more than delighted to welcome you.  Joan MacKenzie 01997433291/07733196633 or jmackenzie10@btinternet.com

Following a special service to mark the start of Christian Aid Week on 10th May, there will be a soup lunch, with donations going to Christian Aid. Anyone who can provide soup, bread/oatcakes or a helping hand on the day, please contact Janet Winchester

(Tel. 01349 865308; e-mail CJW49@hotmail.co.uk).

CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED Christianity Explored was due to start last Wednesday, the 22nd April, however due to the very poor response – only 2 people other than the leaders turned up for the course – it was decided to delay it for another week. It will hopefully start this coming Wednesday 29th, however, if there is no more of a response the course will be cancelled.

FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN Once again, it is the end of the year and all monies collected have been sent off. Amazingly, we have reached a magnificent total of £130 this year. This will go to help women by lending in a micro-financial way to enable them to start up small enterprises. These help the women to feed and clothe their families and also to pay for education for the next generation. Thank you all who give to this worthwhile cause. Each small coin represents our prayers for them and for each other. Keep collecting and praying for the coming year.

Order of Service for this week
