HARVEST THANKSGIVING A fortnight today, 25th August, we will have a family service to celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving. Anyone wishing to donate harvest gifts for the Blythswood Highland Food bank can do so at morning worship that day. Immediately after that service if a few people could stay behind for a few moments to put these into boxes for collection by Blythswood, that would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers are required to help with decoration of the Church for Harvest Thanksgiving. The Church will be open on Saturday 24th from 10 am to 11 am for any donations of flowers or baskets. If you can help in any way please contact Pat Gillanders on 01349 861618 or Isabel Macdonald on 01349 861767
GUILD The Guild resumes its programme tomorrow afternoon, Monday 5th September at 2pm. The Miriam Singers will be with us to lead an afternoon with the theme “Go in Joy”. As you know, the Guild is for everyone – old, young, male, female. Do come along. It would be lovely to swell our numbers with members of the congregation and friends.
For those who might consider coming along to join the Guild, the meetings are mainly afternoon ones this session and the cost of the subscription is £12 for the year, which can be brought along to the first meeting. Come along even if you can only come occasionally. We would love to see you tomorrow.
GIFT DAY 2016 The Church’s Gift Day was held in the Church hall on Saturday morning, 3rd September and quite a number of the Congregation called to enjoy tea and coffee, cakes and biscuits and popped their gift envelopes into the Treasurer’s box. For those who couldn’t manage to attend on Saturday, a number of gift envelopes were given next morning before Sunday Service. Although there may be further gifts to be made the total to date amounts to £6,875 (before any Gift Aid tax recovery) which has put a big smile back on the Treasurer’s face. A mighty big thank you to all who contributed.
NATIONAL PRAYER WEEKEND As part of this UK wide initiative, the Church will be holding a Day of Prayer and Reflection on Friday 23rd September. As in past years, the Church will be open from 10am until 4pm for anyone to come and pray either individually or as a small group during that time. There will be information about some of the issues of today and also an area for thanksgiving. We hope you will come along even for a short time and will spread the news to friends and family. We can offer a cup of tea or coffee served in the vestibule. Please come along and take time to withdraw and pray.
