Church news Sunday 2nd October

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet in the small hall at 10.00am on Wednesday 5th October. All are welcome to come and join us.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The group continues to study the book “The Letter to the Hebrews” and will be looking at Chapter Two. Using the LifeBuilder Series “Hebrews, Race to Glory, the study is entitled “Warning Signs”. There are still study guides available and we’d love to have more ladies come along. You’d be very welcome even if you can’t commit to every session.

PASTORAL CARE Remember there are folk who are willing to help. If you need assistance, call either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), and we will do our very best to help. Do allow time for arrangements to be made.

GUILD The next meeting of the Guild will take place tomorrow, Monday 3rd October at 2pm in the Church hall.  Roger Piercey will talk on Great North Railway. This is a subject which will be of interest to many people and all are welcome to come along. The Guild is for all. Come and join us for a welcome cuppa too.

SOUP LUNCH The first Soup Lunch for this new session takes place in the Church hall on Friday 7th October, starting at 12 noon. After some delicious home-made soup and a cuppa, we’re heading on a Musical Journey through some wonderful Scottish Scenery. Why not join us?

RIVER CAFÉ The next River Cafe takes place in the Church hall on Wednesday 12th October from 2pm-3.30pm. This gives a chance to meet up for some tea, coffee, home bakes and a chat. Why not drop in for a wee while? We look forward to seeing you there.

WORLD MISSION COUNCIL NEWSLETTER The latest newsletter, on the theme of harvest, is now available. Those who take “Life and Work” should have received one with their September copy. Extra copies are available on the table at the back of the Church for anyone interested.

WORLD MISSION USED STAMP APPEAL Thanks to all who supported this appeal. A large amount of stamps (including several complete collections) was donated, the proceeds from which will go to this year’s project: the Church of South India’s Othara Eco-spirituality Centre.

CROSSREACH CALENDARS There is a list at the back of the Church for anyone who’d like to order the beautiful CrossReach Calendar. The Calendar and the list will also be in the Hall after the service at coffee time. A catalogue is also available for those wishing to order cards and other Christmas items. Help the work of CrossReach and the Social Care work of our Church. The final day for placing your order will be 3rd October to enable the calendars to be ordered in time for sending abroad for those who want to do that.
