Church News Sunday 7th January

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF are on holiday until Sunday 14th January. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to.

PASTORAL CARE Remember, there are willing helpers out there ready to be of assistance. Contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349861591) and we will do our very best to help.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The group resumes this Wednesday 10th January in the Church hall at 1.30pm. It is hoped to conclude the Advent studies which are appropriate called “Reverberation”. Please give prayerful thought to coming along to this meeting. You will be made most welcome.

KIRK SESSION The Kirk Session will meet at 7.00pm on Thursday 18th January in the Church Hall. Minutes and agendas are available to uplift now. Elders who have elected to receive them by email should now have them. Would all elders please meet in the small hall after this morning’s service for a short meeting of the Kirk Session.

GUILD The Guild begins its meetings for 2018 tomorrow Monday 8th January at 2pm in the Church Hall. The title of the afternoon is “Playlist for Life” which will be led by Naomi Forbes but also Guild members and friends coming along are asked to think about their possible Playlist and perhaps explain “Why” It should be a good time of fellowship. The Guild welcomes anyone who’d like to come along for this meeting to find out more about this subject and the Guild itself. If you have any of your music on CD, please bring the disc(s) along and we will play a selection of them while we are having tea. Hope to see you there.

RIVER CAFÉ The first River Cafe of 2018 takes place in the Church Hall on Wednesday 10th January from 2pm-3.30pm. Why not drop in for a catch up and enjoy some tea/coffee and home bakes? We look forward to seeing you there. Would you be willing to provide some home baking on an occasional basis? If so, please add your name to the list in the church. Many thanks.

SOUPER SUNDAE On Sunday 21st January we will celebrate Souper Sundae, in support of the Church of Scotland HIV/AIDS Programme and those infected and affected in this country and throughout the world. Donations of soup, bread and desserts will be required, as well as help to participate in the service, and in the kitchen and the hall. Please speak to Janet Winchester if you can help in any way.

HIGHLAND FOODBANK As you will have seen in the press this last week, the Foodbank is more essential than ever. Please remember all those in our local area who need the help of the Foodbank. An extra one or two items in your shopping trolley helps to feed families who are struggling to make ends meet. Thank you so much for all your generous donations in 2017. Sadly, we need them in this new year too.
