Church News Sunday 25th March

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to.

PASTORAL CARE Members of the team await your call if you’d like some assistance. Contact either your elder or the co-ordinator, Janette Steele (01349861591), and we will make every effort to help. Please allow time for arrangements to made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The final study for Lent is called “Invitation to trust” and we will look at Luke 23: 44-49 and Psalm 31: 1-5. We meet in the Church Hall at 1.30pm on Wednesday 28th March for approximately one hour. Please think about coming along. The Bible study group will continue after Easter. Another chance for you to join us then!

KIRK SESSION Members of the Kirk Session are asked to please stay behind for a few minutes in the Annexe after this morning’s service for a short meeting. Thank you.

BLYTHSWOOD When you are doing your Spring Clean, don’t forget there is a large red bin for any of your unwanted items to be collected by Blythswood. No need to travel far. Put it in the bin for collection!

EASTER DAFFODILS The Church will be open on Saturday 31st March between 10-11am to receive daffodils for decorating the Church for Easter. Any help will be most appreciated along with clear glass vases.  The flowers can be uplifted immediately following the 11am Sunday service for distribution. For further information contact Jeannette Cameron 01463 870416.

FACEBOOK We now have our own Facebook page with regular updates on what is going on within our Church. Please check it out by searching on Facebook for Ferintosh Parish Church. We would love for it to be shared among the local communities.

FERINTOSH FOCUS Remaining folders of the March edition of the Ferintosh Focus are available in the annexe for those who kindly distribute them.

MODERATOR VISIT The Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Right Rev. Dr. Derek Browning, is visiting the Presbytery of Ross from the 21st to 30th April 2018. On the evening of Sunday, 29th April there will be a “Songs of Praise” Service at Strathpeffer Church at 6.30pm for everyone to attend. Each congregation in Ross has been asked to choose one hymn for possible inclusion in that Service. Therefore if you would like to suggest a hymn for us to forward to Presbytery, please let the Session Clerk (Martin McLauchlan) have the details by Monday, 26th March at the latest so that a choice of hymn can then be made. Martin can be contacted on 01349 861930 or by email.

GUILD Ross and Ross/Tain Presbyterial Councils will be meeting with the current Moderator Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning and his chaplain Ann Mulligan here at Ferintosh on Monday 23rd April. A buffet supper is planned (5.30pm for 6pm), followed by a meeting to be addressed by the visitors at 7pm. All Guild members, as well as others interested in the Guild, are invited. In order to make arrangements for catering, anyone who would like to attend should add their name to the list at the back of the Church. Requests for practical assistance on the evening will follow at a later date.

The final meeting for this session of Ferintosh Parish Guild will take place on Monday 2nd April at 7.30pm (please note this is an evening meeting). The speaker for the evening will be Janette Steele ably assisted by Hugh on “Ultimate Africa”. As you know the Guild is for all – young and old, male and female – no barriers. Even if you are not a Guild member you are warmly invited to hear and see the Steele’s latest talk and pictures. Come along and bring a friend for fellowship and of course a cuppa. Look forward to seeing you there. This will also be the AGM when monies will be allocated and office bearers elected. Don’t miss it!

PASTORAL DUTIES Rev’d Stephen Macdonald can be contacted on 864273 if required for any Pastoral duties.
