GUILD TREASURE HUNT As a contribution to the celebration of the Year of Young People, on Saturday 15th September the Guild held a Treasure Hunt around Conon Bridge and Maryburgh for family groups. Although not so many teams of 4 entered, those who did enjoyed the afternoon, which included snacks on return to the Church hall. The winning team were the Bumble Bees, who completed the 3.9 mile course, with correct answers to all the questions, in 1 hour and 4 minutes. Second were The Fermers, and third PALRA. See the Church website for photos. Very many thanks are due to everyone in the Guild and congregation who contributed in any way: ideas for the route, photos, clues, work with computer and printer, publicity, preparation and clearing of the hall, registration, judging, refreshments and provision of prizes. The Guild is also most grateful to all the local businesses who provided snack food and generous prizes. There are still one or two questionnaires left, if anyone wants to give it a try…

PRAYER DAY – 6th OCTOBER The Church will be open from 10am till 3pm for anyone to drop in for a few minutes or for longer periods. Topics for reflection will be available against a background of quiet music. Tea and Coffee (-self help) will   be available at the entrance. RETIRING OFFERING SUNDAY 30th SEPTEMBER The Session has agreed that there will be a retiring offering on Sunday 30th September (Harvest Thanksgiving) for emergency relief and eventual reconstruction in the South West and North West Provinces of the Republic of Cameroon, where political tensions have led to a state akin to civil war, with destruction of homes and livelihoods, injury and in some cases death. This is the area where Janet Winchester worked in the 1970s and 80s, and the work will be led by the local Churches, including the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, with which she worked. The funds are being raised and administered by the Evangelical Missionary Society of Basel, Switzerland, for which she worked at the time. For more information, see Janet’s article in Ferintosh Focus.
