Church News Sunday 24th March

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

BREAKFAST CLUB Breakfast Club for nursery and primary children is today at 10.20am.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued.

Informal prayer time before the morning service From 1015-1045 each Sunday the posh room is available for prayer spoken and unspoken, for our church, for the world and for current needs. You can come and go within that time so no need to stay for the half an hour. Feel free to drop in.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM Please call either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591) if you think the team could assist. If you need to be taken to an appointment, please allow time for arrangements to be made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY We continue to look at Jesus’ “Final Week” in our Lenten studies. This week on Wednesday 27th March we will meet in the Church hall at 1.30pm for approximately an hour to look at the fourth study which is called “Arrest and Trial”. We are reading Mark 14: 43- 72 and it would be good to have you with us on that day. A warm welcome awaits.

BUNDLES OF FUN For all parents/carers, babies + toddlers, every Thursday in the hall from 1pm-2:30pm. Come along and relax over a cup of tea/coffee whilst you watch the children play.

GUILD The final meeting of the Guild for this Session will be held on Monday evening, 1st April at 7.30pm. This is to be an “evening of music and fun”. Do come along to see if the Guild would suit you. Members are very welcoming. This is also the Annual General Meeting. For anyone collecting for the Fellowship of the Least Coin, it would be good to have the monies brought to that meeting. Look forward to seeing you there!

FERINTOSH FOCUS Copies of the March edition of the Ferintosh Focus Newsletter are available in the annexe for anybody new to the congregation or visiting.

PANCAKE PIZZAZ in aid of The Leprosy Mission’s Anandaban Hospital, Nepal. This event is planned for Saturday 6th April from 2 to 4pm in the Church hall. A range of pancakes will be served from the traditional, to mouth watering options such as Blueberry Pancake ,  Banoffee Pancake and more, along with tea, coffee and juice. There will be activities for children and a sales table. At 3pm there will be a presentation by a representative of The Leprosy Mission (Scotland) on the work of the organisation and the hospital project (in the small Hall).

Help will be needed to set up the hall, to make the pancakes (bring from home or work in the hall kitchen), to serve pancakes and drinks, to clear up, with the sales table and with the children’s activities.

Donations are welcome of ingredients for the pancakes and fillings, as well as items for the sales table. Please look at the lists on the table at the back of the hall, and sign up where you feel able. We are looking to involve as many people as possible, especially those of you who are new to Ferintosh, so please do not be shy! (NB You do NOT need a food hygiene certificate to help out with this event. Some who have these will be around to ensure everything is as it should be.)

We are also looking to borrow a few electric pancake-makers if anyone has these, or other equipment (electric frying pan?) which can be used to make pancakes, in addition to the cooker. Please let Janet Winchester know if you can help in this way.

WYVIS HOUSE Ferintosh Parish Church leads the service today at Wyvis House at 4pm and it is always good to have to extra worshippers from the congregation to join us.

HIGHLAND FOODBANK Once again a huge thank you for the amazing amount of donations. It is wonderful and very much appreciated by the organisers and recipients. Unfortunately, the need grows rather that reduces, I’m afraid. With the school holidays coming very soon, it would be good if a child’s treat could be donated with the necessities. Thank you for your generosity in these difficult times.

SERVICE THEME As we are heading toward the end of the school term we will continue to look at four precious sayings of Jesus over the next two Sundays. We will then finish off with a slightly different theme on the last Sunday (which is just at the start of the Easter holidays – 7th April). So, in total that gives us three weeks before the school break. 7th April is the last Sunday before Easter Holidays so it will be an Easter themed service with an Easter egg hunt for the children before the service.

The themes remaining are:

24th March – Luke 22:19 – “Remember me”

31st March – John 15:4 – “Abide in me”
