Church News Sunday 20th October

BREAKFAST CLUB/HOLIDAY CLUB Breakfast Club will resume after the tattie Holidays on Sunday 3rd November. Meantime, Holiday Club starts each Sunday morning at 10:50am in the hall over the holidays – all children very welcome.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued.

Informal prayer time before the morning service From 10.15-10.45am each Sunday the posh room is available for prayer spoken and unspoken, for our church, for the world and for current needs. You can come and go within that time so no need to stay for the half an hour. Feel free to drop in.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY Please note, there will be no study this week, Wednesday 23rd October, to enable members to attend the Guild Gathering in Tain Parish Church. However, we will begin a new set of studies on 30th October in the Church Hall at 1.30pm for approximately an hour. This set of studies look at 2 Timothy and Titus and is entitled “Vital Christianity”. Please pick up an invitation from the back of the Church which will give more information. We’d love to have you join us!

PASTORAL CARE TEAM  For help with small tasks, journey to appointments or just a drop-by for a chat, call the Team and we will try our best to assist. Contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349861591). Please allow as much time as possible to arrange.

BUNDLES OF FUN Bundles of Fun will be taking a break over the October Holidays, but will be back as usual, 1-2.30 p.m.  from Thursday 31st October.

SERMON THEME Over the next four Sunday Mornings we will look at the theme of prayer with the title, ‘The 4 shortest Bible prayers with largest possible request’. This will take us up to the Remembrance Service on Sunday 10th November.

ROSS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL There will be a short service in Ross Memorial hospital today at 2pm. If you would like to come along and support the service that would be very much appreciated.

WYVIS HOUSE The next service at Wyvis House is on Sunday 27 October. The service starts at 4pm and lasts about 20-30 minutes. All are welcome.

CROSSREACH The order has arrived. Please pick up your calendar(s) and cards from the church hall. Instructions for payment will be attached.

SOUP LUNCH The next Soup Lunch will take place in the Church Hall on Friday 1st November 2019 at 12 noon. This event gives the opportunity to get together for a chat while enjoying  some delicious home-made soup, tea and biscuits. Why not join us as this will be the last soup lunch until March 2020? We look forward to welcoming you there.

BLYTHSWOOD SHOEBOXES Leaflets concerning the 2019 appeal are on the table at the back of the church and on the hall noticeboard.  It is not necessary to fill a whole shoebox but contributions of appropriate items can be given to Mhairi Mackenzie at any time prior to the “Maryburgh boxers” beginning their work in mid-November.

HIGHLAND FOODBANK School holidays are upon us and many people find providing for their families difficult during these two weeks. Please continue to give generously to help vulnerable people in our community.

BEN WYVIS SCHOOL GARDENING CLUB The school are looking for volunteers to help with their gardening club. This is not a big commitment and it is an opportunity to pass on some of our gardening skills. If you are interested in helping please speak to the minister for more information.
