Church News Sunday 11th January

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. As always there is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet again on Wednesday 14th January at 10am in the small hall.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM If you need our help, please contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), and we will make every effort to be of assistance.

GUILD There will be an extra meeting of the Guild on Monday 19th January at 2pm in 17 Muirden Road, Maryburgh. We hope to enjoy the DVD of the Guild National Meeting which took place in Dundee at the beginning of September. All are very welcome to attend. Look forward to seeing you there.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The ladies group meet on Wednesday 14th January at 1.30pm for approximately an hour in the Church Hall. This spring term we are studying “Evangelism – a Way of Life” and we hope to look at Colossians 3:5- 4:6 with the title “A Life That Speaks”. All ladies are very welcome. If you cannot come to the study at this time or day, there are some study guides still available (£3.50) for use at you own convenience.

RIVER CAFÉ The next River Cafe takes place in the church hall on Wednesday 14th January from 2pm-3.30pm. Why not drop in for a cup of tea/coffee, home baking and the all important chat? We look forward to seeing you there, even if only for a few minutes.

COMMUNITY CHOIR Unfortunately we are unable to restart the Community Choir this term. Thank you to all who have supported it over the last 18 months.

SOUPER SUNDAY There will be a Kirk Session led service on the morning of 25th January. This will highlight the work of the Church of Scotland HIV/AIDS programme throughout the world. The service will be followed by a simple soup and bread lunch in the Church Hall when there will be an opportunity to donate to this worthy cause.

Janette Steele would be very pleased to hear from anyone who could make a pan of soup for this event or donate some crusty bread. Her number is 861591 if you can’t see her after the service this week.

SUNDAY TEA ROTA There is a new list available for this. If you feel you can help on an occasional basis, please add your name to the list in the hall. You may find it easier to work with another person. Many thanks.

CAKE TINS Following recent social events in the church, we seem to have acquired a collection of cake boxes and storage tins. These can be found in the small room in the hall. Please have a look and see if you recognise any familiar containers…..

CONGREGATIONAL BOARD A reminder for all Congregational Board members that there will be a meeting with Fiona Penny from the National Stewardship Team on Thursday 15th January (not 25th as previously intimated) at 7.00pm in the Church hall. Please can we have as high a turnout as possible at this meeting as Fiona will be travelling some distance to get here. The Board and Session will meet for a short while after Fiona has finished to discuss our initial thoughts on what she has said – while it is still fresh in our minds.
