Church News Sunday 16th August

Church News Sunday 16th August

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF The Sunday Club and FYF are on holiday and will return next Sunday, 23rd August. As always there is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet on Wednesday 19th August at 10.00am in the small hall.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM  As always there is a team of volunteers to help you as required. If you need assistance contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591). Do allow time so that arrangements can be made.

CONON GALA The Conon Gala is being held on Saturday 29th August and the Church has agreed to provide the teas, in our hall, between 2pm-4pm with the proceeds going to the Church. Donations of baking would be greatly appreciated for this and also help with serving the teas. If you feel you can help with this event, please add your name to the list at the back of the Church.

CHURCH FINANCES In line with the Congregational Board’s decision to keep the congregation informed of our financial position for the month of July receipts from offerings and donations etc. amounted to £3,790 whilst payments were £4,407. This was a deficit of £617 bringing the total deficit for the year thus far to £6,070

The Congregational Board have again decided to hold a Gift Day on Saturday 5th  September between 10.00 and 12.00. The Board are conscious of the current financial conditions in which we are living and are thankful for all who have so generously supported these days over the years. However, given the current finances of the church, felt that we should go ahead with this Gift Day once again. Letters and envelopes giving more information should be with you soon and these are indeed ready for Elders to pick up today.

STAMPS All those who collect stamps are asked to have them with Janet Winchester by the end of the month as they will be sent off in early September.

SOUP LUNCHES Once again we intend to hold the Friday soup lunches in the Church hall during the autumn/winter months. As you will appreciate, it can be difficult finding suitable speakers for these events, so any suggestions of speakers willing to join us, would be greatly appreciated. If you can help with this please contact Janet Murray.

JUST PRAYER This is a quarterly meeting at which folk from different congregations can pray together at this difficult time in the history of the Church of Scotland.  These meetings begin with some thoughts from Scripture which will encourage us to persevere in prayer. Apart from that, the purpose of this meeting is “just prayer”. The next meeting is at 3pm on Tuesday, 18 August at Inshes Church, Sir Walter Scott Drive, Inverness.

Order of Service for this week
