Church News Sunday 13th September

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF The Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. As always there is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer group will meet on Wednesday 16th September at 10.00am in the small hall.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM As always there is a team of volunteers to help you as required. If you need assistance contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591). Do allow time so that arrangements can be made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The next meeting of the group will be on Wednesday 16th September at 1.30pm in the Church Hall. The passage for study this week is Luke 19: 1-11 which is under the title in our study booklet “An Unlikely Seeker”. The ladies would really welcome you if you wanted to come along to learn more about God’s word. Do think about coming along occasionally even if not able to come weekly.

CONGREGATIONAL BOARD AND KIRK SESSION The Congregational Board and Kirk Session will meet on Thursday 24th September, the Board at 7.00pm and the Session immediately after. Minutes and Agendas are available for both.

GUILD After a most enjoyable meeting, the members voted on the three projects, from six, which Ferintosh Parish Church Guild would like to support (with the congregation’s help) over the coming three years. They are 1) Breaking the Cycle of FGM run by the charity “Feed the Minds” 2) All Friends Together with Prospects in Scotland and 3)Let’s Stick Together, a project from “Care for the Family”. Since no 1. received most votes, that will be our project to support this session. You can read more about this project in Ferintosh Focus, September and the others will feature in future issues.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT On Friday 25th September  Margo and Iain are holding a Macmillan Cancer Support Event at 37 Wyvis Crescent from 10.30am till 5pm. We would be really pleased if you could come along to support this worthwhile cause. Tea, Coffee, Home Baking, Jams etc. for sale and good company. Looking forward to a busy day. Thank you.

CHURCH FINANCES In line with the Congregational Board’s decision to keep the congregation informed of our financial position for the month of August receipts from offerings and donations etc. amounted to £4,581 whilst payments were £4,704. This was a deficit of £123 bringing the total deficit for the year thus far to £6,193.

CROSSREACH This year’s calendar and catalogue for cards are now available. Please place order on the sheet at the back of the Church or at the teatime after the Service.

Books for Malawi All the books collected – 7 banana boxes full – have now been sent to Malawi, where they will be used in school and college libraries or teachers’ resource centres. A note of thanks from Bob and Jan Baxter of Alba Aid is on the notice board in the hall, and look out for an article in the forthcoming Ferintosh Focus.

World Mission Council Used Stamp Appeal Many thanks to everyone who has contributed stamps over the past year. Six kilos (yes, you did read correctly!) of stamps were handed over to the dealer at the recent Guild Gathering in Dundee. Next year’s collection starts now. The red box is in the annexe to receive any stamps any time.

World Mission Council Newsletter A few copies of the latest edition, on the topical subject of Human Trafficking and Immigration, are available on the table at the back of the Church. Please feel free to pick up a copy.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING On Sunday 27th September we will be having our Harvest Thanksgiving Service. This year we will be asking for food donations for the Blythswood Highland Foodbank (Tins and packet foods). Any donations can be brought on that Sunday and tables will be in place at the rear of the Church and in the vestibule. The church will be decorated for Harvest Thanksgiving and donations of flowers and foliage can be brought to the church hall on Saturday 26th September between 10 & 11am. Any help is always welcome and you don’t need to be a flower arranger to become involved. There are leaflets giving some advice on the donations for the Foodbank. Please take home and think about donating on Harvest Sunday. For further information contact Jeannette Cameron 01463 870416.

The Leprosy Mission The home shopping catalogue is now available. It can be found at the back of the church. Orders sent by Margaret are post free or
send direct and pay postage. I will be sending an order early in October.
