Church News Sunday 7th May

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10.00am in the small hall. The Prayer Group are happy to pray for any requests which any of the congregation have. Feel free to put any in the box in the vestibule.

PASTORAL CARE  Perhaps you need to attend a hospital or health centre appointment and wonder how you can get there. Don’t despair! Give the Team a call. We will try our very best to help. Contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591). It is helpful to get a bit of notice to allow arrangements to be made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The following seven weeks, beginning 10th May, will see the group study the prophecy of Haggai. We meet in the Church Hall at 1.30pm each Wednesday for approximately an hour. The readings for the first week entitled “God’s Diary” are Haggai 1:1-2; Psalms 90 & 139; Jeremiah 1: 1-10; Matthew 24:36-44 and Galatians 4:1-7. There are some study notes still available and we’d love more ladies to join us even if you can’t manage every week. Pray about it. It might be what you are looking for.

KIRK SESSION The next meeting of the Kirk Session will be on Thursday 18th May at 7.00pm and it will meet in the Church Hall. Minutes and Agendas are available to uplift now. Elders who receive their Minutes and Agenda by email should have them by now. Members of the congregation are welcome to attend Kirk Session Meetings as observers but are not allowed to contribute to any discussions that take place unless invited to do so by the Chairperson. Also, from time to time observers may be asked to leave a meeting if any items of Restricted Business are on the Agenda.

RIVER CAFÉ The next River Cafe takes place in the Church Hall on Wednesday 10th May from 2pm-3.30pm. Why not drop in for a chat, some tea or coffee and some delicious home baking? We look forward to welcoming you there.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 14TH TO 20TH MAY Lists are now available for help during our fund raising week, on the usual table in church. Offers of food, & help to set up on the evening of the 19th & morning of 20th would be much appreciated. With the ever-increasing households in Conon additional volunteers to go ‘door to door’ are also required.

Please speak to Joan MacKenzie or Janet Winchester if you can offer any assistance. All envelopes & cans, etc. will be available to collectors on Sunday 14th  May, or before if required.

CHRISTIAN AID BIG BREKKIE

Yes something different this year to end Christian Aid Week.  We are planning to serve a Big Brekkie, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday 20th May in the Church hall, open to the whole community, so will need your help if it is to succeed.  Local businesses have been very generous in their promises of goods, but we do still need one or two items. Please sign up on the list on the table at the back of the Church to provide these, as well as to volunteer for jobs on the day. Any queries, contact Joan Mackenzie or Janet Winchester. We will also be having our door-to-door collection, which has always been our main fundraiser, so volunteers also please to step out in Conon and Maryburgh happily shaking cans.

CHRISTAIN AID MUSIC QUIZ This year we have a really fun ‘pop’ music quiz which should appeal to anyone into 60s/70s music, so please take a sheet or more and enjoy flexing your brain cells.  Copies available on the table with other notices in church, with box for donations, minimum £1.
BLYTHSWOOD Remember we have a big red bin at the back door of the Church for any donations of unwanted articles. Just drop them in there – no need to travel to Dingwall with your contributions.
HIGHLAND FOODBANK Thank you all who donated so generously over the period of Lent. Unfortunately, the need for the Foodbank hasn’t gone away and,if anything, more people are needing the help. Please drop any contributions into the basket in the annex. It is very much appreciated by the volunteers and service users.
