Church News Sunday 3rd September

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet at 10.50am today. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP The prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10.00am in the small hall. The Prayer Group are happy to pray for any requests which any of the congregation have. Feel free to put any prayers in the box in the vestibule.

PASTORAL CARE We have dedicated people on the Team who are willing to be of assistance. Give us a call either contacting your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591). Please remember to give as much notice for appointments as possible to allow arrangements to be made.

RIVER CAFÉ The first River Cafe of the new session takes place in the church hall on Wednesday 13th September from 2pm-3.30pm.  Why not drop in for a chat and enjoy some tea/coffee and home bakes. We look forward to welcoming you there. If you could help with providing home baking on an occasional basis, can you please add your name to the list at the back of the church or speak with Janet Murray. Your help would be greatly appreciated so that we can continue to hold this event. Many thanks.

FERINTOSH FOCUS The next edition of the Ferintosh Focus Newsletter will be published mid-September. All articles are to be with the Editorial team by 8th September.

GUILD The first meeting of the new session will take place tomorrow, Monday 4th September at 7.30pm in the Church Hall when we welcome our locum minister, Rev Russel Smith, as our speaker on the theme for this year, “Go in Love”. As you know, the Guild is for everyone – young and not so young, male and female – and we’d love to have you join us. Give it prayerful consideration, please. The membership subscription remains the same as last year at £12 and can be paid at the first meeting when the syllabus will be available. This is very varied and interesting and should appeal to many folk. Do have a look at it.

NEW START HIGHLAND The goods donated have been delivered to the depot in Inverness. It was wonderful to see the spacious boot of the car full with all your items. Thank you so much for the wonderful generosity shown to people less well off than ourselves. (See pictures in Ferintosh Focus – out soon)

HIGHLAND FOODBANK  In the latest letter of thanks for the Foodbank, it states that in the last financial year, they have helped over 6000 people throughout the Highlands. Unfortunately, the level of need remains high. The items Ferintosh Parish Church are asked to donate this month are as follows: cartons of long-life juice; tins of custard, tins of corned beef; tins of fruit; sugar; biscuits. Just one item extra for the shopping basket? As well as providing enough food to last 3 meals for 3 days to people who would otherwise go hungry, the foodbank volunteers take the time to listen and signpost clients to further support. Thank you for your help.

PASTORAL DUTIES Rev’d Russel Smith can be contacted on 861011 if required for any Pastoral duties. From 5th to 18th September pastoral duties will be covered by Rev’d Scott Polworth who can be contacted on 01436 870259.
