On Saturday 2nd September, Guild members made their way by many forms of transport to the Caird Hall, Dundee for the National Gathering of the Guild.
Around 2000 people attended but there were also live links throughout the country for members unable to be in Dundee for the day. We had visits to Fochabers and Yetholm during the meeting but there were links available in Alness and Inverness.
The Moderator was the main speaker for the morning. He emphasised the Guild’s role in teaching LOVE in our congregations and communities, Go in Love being the theme for this 2017-18 year.
In the afternoon, it was the turn of the Heart & Soul Swing Band to reach us with the message of love through their foot-tapping, and even dancing in the aisles, music.
Dr Pam Cairns was the most uplifting whilst thought-provoking speaker of the day. She began her charity work with the Vine Trust in the Peruvian Jungle but has recently founded the charity, The Free to Live Trust. The Trust seeks to improve the lives of street children and victims of modern slavery. A home for the abandoned children of trafficked sex workers is currently being built in Pune, India.
Five of us were at the meeting and we met up with our Link Guild ladies from Port Glasgow.
