Church News Sunday 24th September

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet at 10.50am today. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP  Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church, and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly, and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to. The group is happy to pray for concerns of the congregation, whether for individuals or on wider issues. Please place any prayers requests in the box in the Church vestibule.

PASTORAL CARE We have dedicated people on the Team who are willing to be of assistance. Give us a call either contacting your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591). Please remember to give as much notice for appointments as possible to allow arrangements to be made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The group meets each Wednesday at 1.30pm in the Church hall for approximately one hour. The book being studied this session is Daniel and the series is entitled “Living Boldly for God”. Do think about coming along to read, study and discuss the relevance of God’s Word for us today. Look forward to seeing you there.

FERINTOSH FOCUS Copies of the September edition of the Ferintosh Focus are available in the annex for those who distribute them.

CROSSREACH An example of the latest Wall Calendar for 2018 is available at the rear of the Church (after service in Hall). There is a list for names for orders either for the wall calendar or the appointments calendar which has the same views. The wall calendar is a very reasonable £5 and the appointments one £4.50.  A few copies of the catalogue are to hand for anyone who wants to order other Christmas items. By getting the order in early we should be able to have the calendars to hand for posting abroad.

SOUP LUNCH The first Soup Lunch of this new session takes place in the Church Hall on Friday 6th October starting at 12noon. Why not join us for some delicious home-made soup, tea/coffee and biscuits, while taking an opportunity to catch up and enjoy a chat. We look forward to welcoming you there.

CHURCH FINANCES Up to and including Sunday 17th September, a sum of £6,065 has been donated to the Church’s Gift Day.  Gift Aid is to be added to this and the final total will be announced in due course.  Grateful thanks to all who contributed so generously.

Income for the month of August was £2,380, whereas Expenditure amounted to £3,462 resulting in an excess of expenditure of £1,082. The position for the eight months to the end of August showed an excess of expenditure over income of £2,445 but It is confidently expected that the donations received from the September Gift Day will improve this situation.

OPEN MEETING OF THE GUILD You are all warmly invited to the next Guild Meeting on Monday 2nd October at 7.30pm in the Church Hall. The speaker that evening will be Rev Sandy Sutherland with a presentation entitled, “The Black Isle Bounce – Macro to Infinity and Beyond.” Intrigued? Do come along and discover what it means for yourself. Sandy’s pictures are usually quite wonderful. A warm welcome awaits everyone. Why not come along and bring a friend?

SCOTTISH NORTHERN CONVENTION The annual Scottish Northern Convention takes place ion Castle Street Church between 24th and 28th September. For more information contact

HARVEST THANKSGIVING At Harvest Thanksgiving this year, instead of bringing items of food for the local foodbank, the congregation is asked to donate in a retiring offering to the Elderly Feeding Programme in Viyele Congregation in Malawi. This is a programme Ferintosh congregation has supported in the past, but it is some time since we did so. As it is not possible at the present time to send goods to Malawi, the Session decided on this retiring offering instead. For more details about the Elderly Feeding Programme, see Ferintosh Focus.  Thanks go to everyone who helped in any way with decorating the church yesterday for the Harvest Thanksgiving. The arrangements can be uplifted immediately after the service for distribution.

PASTORAL DUTIES Rev’d Russel Smith can be contacted on 861011 if required for any Pastoral duties.
