Church News Sunday 8th April

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF are now on holiday, returning on 22nd April. During the holidays children are welcome in the service. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to.

PASTORAL CARE Please give the Team a call if you need some help. Contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), and we will try our best to assist. Remember, if possible, give some notice for taking to appointments.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY Living a Life of True Worship is the topic the ladies are looking at for another week or two. These studies are no homework studies which are undertaken by all members together. Whilst they are proving challenging, they are generating much useful and thoughtful discussion. Please really think hard and try to come along on Wednesday 11th April at 1.30pm to the Church Hall. The group meeting lasts approximately and hour. We’d love to have you with us even if you can’t come every week.

EVENING SERVICES Sunday evening services at 6.30pm in the Church hall will start on Sunday 22nd April.

CROSSREACH Calling all knitters! Crossreach would like people to knit a CALAMARI SHANARRI – a wellbeing octopus. This is part of “Getting It Right for Children and Young People in Scotland”. CrossReach Children and Family Services have introduced this new tool to help in their work. A pattern and more details can be had from Janette Steele, Ferintosh Parish Crossreach Supporter.

CHURCH WEBSITE  The Ferintosh Parish Church website has been updated. Please check it out at

Fellowship of the Least Coin Sunday 15th April is the last date for donations to the Fellowship of the Least Coin.

FACEBOOK We now have our own Facebook page with regular updates on what is going on within our Church. Please check it out by searching on Facebook for Ferintosh Parish Church. We would love for it to be shared among the local communities.

CRECHE We are again in need of more volunteers for the creche. There are not always children in the creche, but it needs to be available every Sunday, and we would like not to have to call on volunteers more than once a month. Volunteers do need to be approved by Disclosure Scotland as suitable to work with children, but this is not an onorous or intrusive process and there is no cost to the individual. Please speak to Janet Winchester if you are able to help (01349 865308).

RIVER CAFÉ The next River Cafe takes place in the Church hall on Wednesday 11th April from 2pm-3.30pm. Why not drop in for some tea/coffee, home baking and the all important chat? Whether you’re a “regular” or have never managed along before, we look forward to seeing you here. Can you help? Would you be willing to provide some baking on an occasional basis or can you wash dishes? If so, please add your name to the list at the back of the church as your help would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

MODERATOR VISIT The Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Right Rev. Dr. Derek Browning, is visiting the Presbytery of Ross from the 21st to 30th April 2018. On the evening of Sunday, 29th April there will be a “Songs of Praise” Service at Strathpeffer Church at 6.30pm for everyone to attend.

Ross and Ross/Tain Guilds host the Moderator The Presbyterial Councils of Ross and Ross/Tain are to welcome the current Moderator of the Church of Scotland in Ferintosh Church on Monday 23rd April There will be a buffet supper in the hall at 5.30pm for 6, then a meeting in the Church from 7.30pm. As the host congregation it would be good if we were well represented, by Guild members and others interested. If you would like to attend, and have not already put your name on the list, please consider doing so. There is also a list of tasks and food items allocated to Ferintosh Guild to provide. Members are asked to sign up to what they are able to provide.

HIGHLAND FOODBANK Do remember the folk who need to use this facility during the school holidays. A little extra treat for the children would be good but the staples are very much what is required. Put something into your shopping basket for the Foodbank each week, please. It is very much appreciated.

PASTORAL DUTIES Rev’d Stephen Macdonald can be contacted on 864273 if required for any Pastoral duties.
