Church News Sunday 13th May

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning.

BREAKFAST CLUB Breakfast Club for nursery and primary children is today at 10.20am.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to.

PASTORAL CARE Please remember if you need some help the team is available. You can contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), and help could be on hand. Please try to give as much notice as possible for transport to appointments to allow arrangements to be made.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY You can still pick up an invitation to a study of Luke and Acts. Using a combination of Bible reading, DVD teaching, group discussion and prayer, we hope to grow in our understanding of what Luke wrote and how it applies to our lives. We meet next on Wednesday 16th May at 1.30pm in the Church Hall. We do hope you will consider coming along to study one quarter of the New Testament! This week’s emphasis is on “The Holy Spirit Empowers” 5 main texts are: Luke 1:30-38; Luke 3:1-22, 4:1,14; Acts 1:8, 2: 1-4, 13-21; Acts 10: 38, 44-48; Acts 13: 1-4. All made very welcome.

THE LEPROSY MISSION (SCOTLAND) TLM Scotland is holding its Annual Celebration in the North Parish Church Stirling on Saturday 2nd June from 11am. See the poster in the Church hall for details. Anyone interested in joining transport, please contact Janet Winchester (01349 865308).

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK – 13TH TO 19TH MAY Today we are holding our main annual fund raising event, for Christian Aid.  Please join in this celebration of Christian Aid by enjoying a sociable Soup Lunch (8 delicious soups on offer) in the Church hall following the morning service.  Quiz sheets, daily devotional booklets and general up-date magazines on the work of Christian Aid available in Church. Wishing all the door-to-door volunteer collectors a week of perfect weather and a warm welcome from households in Conon and Maryburgh.

GUILD Date for the Diary. The Guild is planning a Summer Outing to Mackenzie and Cruickshanks’ Garden Centre, Forres, on Monday 11th June. Lunch has been booked in the Potting Shed Café for 12.30pm. More details will soon be available on the Church Table, when you can also indicate whether you could provide a car or require transport. Watch this space!

EVENT Alness Baptist Church presents an evening with Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) and Fiona Hendley (Widow’s actress) of songs, humour and insights into their lives and faith. HIGHLAND GOSPEL MALE VOICE CHOIR Highland Gospel Male Voice Choir are to be singing in Castle Street Church of Scotland on Friday 25th May at 7.30pm.
