Church News Sunday 27th October

BREAKFAST CLUB/HOLIDAY CLUB Breakfast Club will resume after the tattie Holidays on Sunday 3rd November. Meantime, Holiday Club starts each Sunday morning at 10:50am in the hall over the holidays – all children very welcome.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued.

KIRK SESSION The next meeting of the Kirk Session will be on Thursday 7th November at 7.00pm and it will meet in the Church Hall. Minutes and Agendas are available to uplift now. Elders who get their Minutes and Agenda by email should have received them by now. If they have not arrived, please contact the Session Clerk.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY The group intend to begin a new series of studies from the Pastoral Letters of Paul, 2 Timothy and Titus. The studies are called “Vital Christianity”. We meet on Wednesday 30th October in the Church Hall at 1.30pm for approximately one hour. Please take one of the invitations at the back of the Church and come along. Everyone made very welcome.

PASTORAL CARE TEAM  Do give us a call if you need some help. We will try our very best to be of assistance. Either contact your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349861591). Remember to allow time to arrange to be taken to appointments.

BUNDLES OF FUN Bundles of Fun but will be back as usual, 1 – 2.30 p.m. from Thursday 31st October.

SERMON THEME Over the next three Sunday Mornings we will look at the theme of prayer with the title, ‘The 4 shortest Bible prayers with largest possible request’. This will take us up to the Remembrance Service on Sunday 10th November.

WYVIS HOUSE There will be a service at Wyvis House this afternoon from 4pm and lasts about 20-30 minutes. All are welcome.

SOUP LUNCH The next Soup Lunch will take place in the Church Hall on Friday 1st November 2019 at 12 noon. This event gives the opportunity to get together for a chat while enjoying  some delicious home-made soup, tea and biscuits. Why not join us as this will be the last soup lunch until March 2020? We look forward to welcoming you there.

BLYTHSWOOD SHOEBOXES Leaflets concerning the 2019 appeal are on the table at the back of the church and on the hall noticeboard.  It is not necessary to fill a whole shoebox but contributions of appropriate items can be given to Mhairi Mackenzie at any time prior to the “Maryburgh boxers” beginning their work in mid-November.

FLOWER CALENDAR The proposed Flower Rota for 2020 is available on the table at the back of the church. Please check your name against the date/s and if there are any corrections please let Jeannette Cameron know. 01463 870416. There is one space available at the moment in November and you can enter your name if you would like to be involved.  There is also a Flower Fund should you wish to contribute.

GUILD The next meeting of the Guild will be held on Monday 4th November at 2pm in the Church Hall. The talk entitled “My Year as Moderator” will be delivered by Very Rev Dr Susan Brown and all are very welcome to come along to hear Susan even if you are not a Guild member but would just love to hear her talk. There will be a “Bring and Buy” stall at this meeting in aid of the Guild Project. We look forward to many from our congregation and community coming along.

HIGHLAND FOODBANK Thank you for your amazing generosity and lovely touches for the children during the school holidays. The foodbank services are required every day of the year, both the counselling and food distribution. Please add an item or two to your shopping trolley to donate. Every donation is needed and appreciated.

BEN WYVIS SCHOOL GARDENING CLUB The school are looking for volunteers to help with their gardening club. This is not a big commitment and it is an opportunity to pass on some of our gardening skills. If you are interested in helping please speak to the minister for more information.

MARYBURGH FREE CHURCH Following their renovations Maryburgh Free Church is hosting a church opening service on Saturday 2nd November at 2pm, all very welcome to attend.
