Church News Sunday 3rd December

SUNDAY CLUB AND FYF Sunday Club and FYF meet today at 10.50am. There is a Crèche for pre-school children each Sunday morning. Sunday Club are going to visit Wyvis House care home on this afternoon at 2pm to play the bells and give out chocolates to the residents.

PRAYER GROUP Prayer meetings continue on Wednesday mornings at 10am in the Church hall. Prayer is the essential powerhouse of the Church and your participation would be greatly valued. The small group is very friendly and there is no pressure to pray aloud if you do not wish to.

PASTORAL CARE The team is willing to lend a hand. Contact either your elder or the coordinator, Janette Steele (01349 861591), and assistance can be arranged. Remember to allow time for arrangements to be put in place.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY Wednesdays at 1.30pm in the Church hall is when the group meets for approximately an hour. We will be looking towards the birth of Jesus in our Advent studies. Why not come along? You’d be most welcome.

RVER CAFÉ The last River Cafe of 2017 will take place in the Church hall on Wednesday 13th December from 2pm-3.30pm. Why not take the chance to drop in for a well earned seat and enjoy some tea/coffee, home baking and the all important chat? We look forward to welcoming you there.

SEAFORTH HOUSE The service planned for Seaforth House will not be today (the first Sunday of the month) but is planned for next week 10th December at 3pm. This is to take the form of a nativity so do come along and join the choir of angels.

CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING Thanks to everyone how contributed to, helped run and attended the Christmas Coffee Morning in the Church hall yesterday.

GUILD The Christmas Lunch will take place tomorrow 4th December at the Cottage Bar, Maryburgh. Members and guests are asked to arrive at the Cottage at 12.30pm for 1pm. This should be a great time of fellowship. See you there!

KIRK SESSION The next meeting of the Kirk Session will be on Thursday 7th December at 7.00pm and it will meet in the Church hall. Minutes and agendas are available to uplift now. Elders who get their Minutes and Agenda by email should have received them by now. Members of the congregation are welcome to attend Kirk Session meetings as observers but are not allowed to contribute to any discussions that take place unless invited to do so by the Chairperson. Also, from time to time observers may be asked to leave a meeting if any items of Restricted Business are on the Agenda.

Highland Foodbank Try to add one or two items for the foodbank to your weekly shop. It makes such a difference to the lives of people who struggle to make ends meet. Ideas of what is required are on the leaflet in the annex of the Church. Thank you for your continuing generosity.

MIRIAM SINGERS It’s that time of year again! Get into the festive mood with an evening in the company of the Miriam Singers. Their Christmas programme takes place on Monday 11th December at 7.30pm in Rosskeen Parish Church, Alness. Rosskeen Guild hosts this event and great fun, fellowship and the Christmas Message is always on offer. And of course “some fine pieces” are to be had too. Janette Steele is going and is willing to transport any who might want to join her. Come along for a friendly, joyous evening.

SCOUT CHRISTMAS POST Conon and Maryburgh Scouts are once again running the Christmas Scout Post on Saturday, 9th December from 10am to 12 noon. Christmas cards can only be dropped off for delivery within the 30mph signs in the villages of Maryburgh or Conon Bridge. The cost per card remains at 15p per card. Cards can be dropped off at either the Maryburgh Amenities hall or the Church hall in Conon Bridge on the morning of the 9th. Note, same day delivery is not guaranteed. Tea/Coffee with Mince Pies and Shortbread will be on sale throughout the morning. For more information, please contact Corinna (on 867880) or Lauren (on 863794).

Blythswood Shoebox Appeal The group checking and filling shoeboxes in Maryburgh Free Church hall wish to thank all members of Ferintosh congregation who have contributed items for the boxes.  The annual exercise is now over and the group’s contribution to the 2017 appeal is a total of 11,112 shoeboxes which are now on their way to those in need.
